Delhi

General Information - New Delhi, the national capital city is the initiating point for many tourist places in India. The city of New Delhi is well connected by air; rail and road which makes it easy to reach here.

Shimla

General Information -  Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, lies about 343 km from Delhi at an altitude of 2,213 metres above sea level. Before the British discovered it in 1819, Shimla was a small village that was part of the Nepalese kingdom. In 1830, the local Raja was persuaded to part with the land by the British and the settlement became the subcontinent's most fashionable summer resort. Shimla was declared the summer capital of India in 1864. After India's independence, Shimla became the capital of Punjab till 1966, when it came under Himachal Pradesh.

Manali

General Information -

At the northern end of the Kullu valley sits the ancient site, but modern town, of Manali. It is a pleasant, if overdeveloped, town with lovely forests and orchards nearby for hiking, and good facilities for visitors. In the 1970s and 1980s, Manali was very much a 'scene'. In summer, the town would attract numerous western hippies and travellers drawn by the high quality marijuana that grows in the area. High season is mid-April to late June, mid-September to early November, mid-September to early November, Christmas and new year.

Nallagarh

General Information -Nalagarh is the gateway to Himachal Pradesh in North India. Located about 60km from Chandigarh and 135kms before Shimla, it was a part of the Hindur state that came into being with Raja Ajai Chand (1100-1171 AD). The town itself was founded in the 15th century under Raja Bikram Chand (ruled 1421-35) and became the capital of the state. It was ruled by the Chandela Rajputs who originated from Chanderi in the Bundelkhand region of Central India. The Hindur used to be an important state in the confederacy of the Shimla hill states and bore the brunt of many a battle.

Routing:  Delhi -Shimla - Manali - Nallagarh- Delhi
Day 1: Delhi - Shimla
Arrive in Delhi and transfer by road to Shimla (343 kms / 8 hrs), the former summer capital of British India, set amidst the snow capped Shivalik Mountains which offers some of the most stunning views of the mighty Himalayas.

Day 2: Shimla
This morning, you will visit Kufri situated at an altitude of 2500 meters just an hours drive from Shimla. Later this afternoon take a walking tour of Shimla, visit the Jakoo hills that offer a panoramic view of the town visit the Vice Regal Lodge and walk down the Mall Road.

Day 3: Shimla - Manali
Today, you will proceed by road to Manali (274 kms / 7hrs), a picture-perfect hill resort at an altitude of 1,929 metres. Set amidst pine-clad mountains, which gradually close in on both sides of the Beas and nestling in their shade, as though carved out of primeval forest, is a scattered hamlet, which comprises this picturesque summer resort.

Day 4: Manali
This morning, you may take a walking tour of Manali, visiting the 450 years old temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, which has some excellent woodcarving. You also visit the Tibetan Monastery and the handicraft center. The rest of the day at leisure or walk to the nearby picturesque village of Vashisht known for its hot sulphur springs.

Day 5: Manali
This morning, you visit the Solang Valley and the not to be missed Rohtang Pass, 51 km from Manali at an altitude of 3978 meters (subject to weather conditions).

Day 6: Manali - Nallagarh
Today, you visit the Kullu valley, celebrated as the valley of Gods and are later transferred by road to Nallagarh (220 kms / 5-6 hrs) a quiet small village on the foot hills of the mountains.

Day 7: Nallagarh - Delhi
Transfer by road to Delhi (300 kms / 6-7 hrs).
